I think I jut realized why I’m such a natural minimalist - I used to LOVE building Star Wars Legos. Perhaps they’re even impressionistic. I think there’s enough room in the art world for that kind of overlap. In any case, I could build some of these and others by memory at one point. So, that proclivity for internalizing these objects, which are only impressions or simplifications of more hyper-realistic images (which are supposed to have mechanical parts like engines and doors and can “FLY IN SPACE!”), helped to inform my artistic sensibilities later in life. I’ve always been terrible with color, but I think I may go back to these for a new, more guided sense of vision, and define a formal way of building color palettes.

About

Avatar My name is Nicholas. I'm 22 and I'm a sculpture major at Herron School of Art and Design. I work at an arts foundry on the East side of Indianapolis called, Sincerus Bronze Art Center. This is where I collect the things that inspire me, and where I post images of the work that I make. Consider this my online, public sketchbook.
